Editorial Policy

The League publishes organisational statements, explanatory briefings and annotated reference material. Clear attribution and accurate use of sources govern all three. This policy describes the responsibilities attached to material published in the League’s name.

Statements and original publications

Statements express the position of the Young Communist League of Europe. They set out its principles, political identity and public responsibilities. Briefings develop a particular subject through explanation and original sources. Their purpose and scope appear in the title, introduction and references.

A library record introduces an external work. It identifies the publisher, document type and edition and links to the original text. Its annotation is the League’s own writing; the external document retains its original issuer.

Evidence and attribution

Historical, institutional and statistical claims are connected with identifiable sources. A document’s official status establishes its provenance and function. The discussion distinguishes an institution’s account, an observed measure and the League’s interpretation.

Statistical references retain the reporting period, unit, coverage and any preliminary status relevant to the claim. A maintained database and a dated release are identified according to the version used. Using the Sources explains these fields in greater detail.

Translation and quotation

An official translation is attributed to the institution that issued it. An editorial rendering or summary is identified as such. A notice announcing a publication is kept distinct from the full work.

Quotations retain the wording and context of the cited edition. Article, section or paragraph references accompany close textual discussion where they help readers locate the passage. Short quotations and paraphrases remain separate from the League’s own conclusions.

Institutional information

The League’s official name, public identifier and headquarters details appear in Public Information. Media enquiries, editorial questions and international correspondence have designated contact routes.

References to another institution identify its actual role in the matter. Source publication, correspondence, participation in an exchange and a formal agreement carry distinct meanings. Private correspondence is assessed separately from material intended for public release.

Corrections and updates

Reports of factual errors, attribution problems, translation issues and broken links can be sent to editorial@ycle.org. The review examines the passage and the relevant original evidence. A material correction identifies what changed; a revised account distinguishes the earlier error from later developments.

Typographical and formatting corrections can be made directly. A moved external source can be relinked to the same work; a different edition is identified when it affects the account. Corrections provides the reporting procedure.

Rights and enquiries

The League’s original text and identity files are distinct from the photographs and external documents credited to their respective creators and publishers. The media page provides identity downloads and photographic credits. Rights enquiries can identify the material and proposed use through the media contact.
